Its my birthday today! Seeing as blogs can be very self indulgent things I thought why the hell not blog about it, it is MY birthday after all.
For the past 19 years my birthday has been a double celebration in my family as its also my cousin Joanne’s birthday. Apparently when she was born (I was 8 at the time) I cried my wee eyes out at the news, mainly because I now had 6 female cousins and no male cousins on my Dads side. However, I was soon to discover being the only boy had its advantages mainly that of the title “Favourite Grandson” bestowed upon on me by my Grandpa and Grandma. I also had free reign on all the toy cars at my Grandparents house whenever I came to visit, the girls had to fight over the dolls or bring their own.
Past Birthdays of note:
- I had the Mumps on my 4th Brithday, not good.
- I got a football signed by the 1996/1997 Newcastle United team for my 13th Birthday, thanks Uncle Brian.
- I played a gig with my band on my 18th Bithday.
- Due to poor planning I spent my 20th Birthday alone in my flat, but I did make up for it with a night out a few days later.
- My college graduation just happened to be the same day as my 21st, which was nice.
- On my 23rd Birthday I saw Paul Bucannan of The Blue Nile (one of my favourite bands) play a stunning show at the Usher Hall. The night before me and my mates were at the outstanding Spiritualized acoustic show in the Queens Hall, a gig that J-Spacemen himself said was one of the best shows he’s ever played.
- This year I’m off to see Underworld at the Barrowlands in Glasgow. Its going to be amazing.
