I love love love Radiohead. Got my copy of The King of Limbs in the post this week and I’ve enjoyed giving it an other round of listens months after the initial excitement of its download release. I prefer their recent method of bringing out music which is more “Surprise! We’ve got a new album” as opposed to the predictable slow drip of information for months on end that most other bands go with (at the behest of their record labels I suspect).
Some folk don’t like Radiohead and that’s fair enough. However, not many bands of their size can divide their fan base with every album. As much as I like the old guitar based stuff, its Radioheads ability and need to change with every album that I admire them for. 2007’s “In Rainbows” was for me a fiery and emotional record with big sound scapes, soaring vocals and fevered performances. The King of Limbs is a numb, claustrophobic sounding record and I love it.
Long may Radiohead continue to change.
